How much does it cost to register?

Nothing. Registration is FREE.

Do I have to register to use the site?

No. You can browse and search job ads without registering. You should still register, to save time, as the site will remember various preferences for you. If you want to create job ads, you will need to register. Registration is FREE.

How do I become an APTS member?
As a prerequisite, all members are required to be holders of a bachelor degree or equivalent, as a minimum, and must take the APTS certification examination in translation and/or interpreting from and/or to Arabic.
Are there different categories of membership?
APTS Membership is divided into five classes:
  • Certified Translator
  • Certified Interpreter
  • Certified Translator/Interpreter
  • Certified Associate
  • Certified Translation Instructor

How do I apply for membership?
Applications for membership are submitted to APTS by email to APTS Member services process all applications for members, arrange for certification testing and inform applicants of the status of their applications.

Is certification necessary?
Yes. To become a member of APTS, you must first take the certification exam.
How do I take the certification exam?
Certification testing is done in person under the supervision of a certification examiner in your country/city. We have certification examiners in most Arab countries and around the world. To take the test, you need to send your CV to APTS Member Services for evaluation. If requirements are met, you will asked to contact the APTS certification examiner in your country.
What if there is no APTS Certification Examiner in my country?
If APTS does not have a certification examiner in your country, or if it is too difficult for you to travel to the APTS examiner in your country, APTS Member Services can setup a supervised test over Skype or through the APTS Learning Management System.
Is there a fee for the test?
Yes. A candidate is required to pay US $ 50 to the certification examiner for his time. Alternatively, if the test is given remotely through APTS Member Services, a US $ 50 fee is paid to the supervisor.
Education and Training
Does APTS provide education/training courses?
Yes. APTS provides a number of courses and workshops throughout the year to its members. Courses range from basic to very advanced. Courses are taught by APTS Certified Instructors. Instructors schedule courses and specify prerequisites and fees. Fees are payable to instructors through APTS. Instructors are charged a percentage for the use of APTS Learning Management System, administration, payment processing, etc.
How can I use the APTS Education Portal?
The APTS Education Portal is located at When a trainee is enrolled in a course, he is issued a username and password by APTS Member Services, allowing him to access the course material only, as well as any common resources contained in the learning management system.
What does the terminology base contain?
The unified terminology base - Chaiban UniTerm Dictionary - contains close to 500,000 entries, including business, finance, banking, accounting, insurance, law, marine transport, medical, engineering and technical terminology.

Creating & Managing Listings
How do I post my resume?
After registering and confirming your registration by clicking on the link contained in the email automatically sent to you when you registered, you can proceed to obtain a package allowing you to post your resume. Resume and job listings are free. 
For how long is my listing valid?
As an employer, your wanted ad remains active for 30 days. You can renew it 30 days at a time.
As a linguist, your resume listing is valid for 20 years. 
Do I have to register to create listings?

Yes. You must be a registered user to create listings. Registration is free.

To register as a linguist and post your resume on the job board, you must be a certified member of Arab Professional Translators Society. If you are not certified, click here for information on how to become a certified member. 
I created a listing, but it does not show up in search results. Why?

You need to run your listing. Go to My Account and click on Run to the left of the listing you wish to run. 

I found the linguist(s) I was looking for. How do I stop my listing from running?

From the My Account page, click on the Stop link to the left of the listing.

What category should I put my listing in?

As a linguist, your resume listing is valid for 20 years.
I don't want my name, phone number or email address to appear on your site. What should I do?
To hide all of your personal information when creating a listing, just do the following:
1. Answer "NO" to the question "Include Profile with Listing"
2. Do not enter your street address or phone number on the listing
This will keep all of your personal information private.
Someone interested in your listing will be able to contact you via anonymous email using the "Contact Advertiser" link on the site. The email address you enter for a listing is NOT shown on the site - it is used by the site to route anonymous contact requests to your email without making your email address visible to others.

If all my information is private how can a buyer contact me?

When your ad appears, instead of showing your contact information the following appears: "This advertiser has chosen to remain private. You may contact this advertiser via anonymous email by clicking here." The prospective linguist completes an on-line form and the system sends you an email without revealing your information to the prospective linguist.
